Where short-term needs and wants may sometimes conflict with the longer-term sustainable needs of a school and its community. Green Shoots focuses on three pillars of Governance to ensure that both short-term and long-term needs are met.
Standards
Globally recognised benchmarks against which a school’s performance is measured.
Green Shoots relies on oversight from accrediting groups to measure its progress and to assure its community that standards are being met and maintained. Membership of these bodies also helps the school benchmark its development against its own goals for growth, ensuring that development priorities align with its community’s needs.
Information
Regularly updated and publicly available data on a school’s plans, progress, and performance.
Green Shoots shares its development priorities through its Strategic Plans, which are developed after community consultation. Its Annual Reports offer regular updates on progress against these plans. Both are available on the Publications page of this website. Weekly newsletters, social media, the Green Shoots Parent Portal and other parent-school school communications provide the school community with daily, weekly, and monthly information updates.
Accountability
Holding school leadership accountable for decisions & actions that impact long-term stability.
The Green Shoots Advisory Board is a group of volunteers with expertise in different areas who work with the school’s owner and Head of School to ensure that the decisions being made are appropriate. The board meets regularly to discuss budgetary issues, policy decisions, strategic direction, and the setting of fees. The Head of School is recruited through a process of consultation between the owner, outgoing head, and board.
